The final product of the IANA contract was open to two periods of public comment prior to its renewal. The responses were not taken lightly and many of them, not all, ended up being in the final product. If you would like to read the comments the public made click here.

The European Commission after the final contract for the IANA was released  agreed with these key changes, however they complained that the final contractor was located in the United States and with that decision having to deal with issues of applicable law. The contract over all was felt to have made new critical decisions and functions for the Internet. Part of the contract was also the approval of the new DOT-xxx clause, which many felt had an offset of wording giving governments more control over the internets evolution.  If you would like to read the full IANA contract please click here.
