Record Number of .IE Domain Registrations in Q1 2009
Despite the economic downturn, it was revealed today that the first three months of 2009 saw the highest-ever number of new .ie domains registered of any similar period since the ccTLD was released in 1995.
The IE Domain Registry (IEDR), which manages the registry for Ireland’s domain extension .ie, shows that a total of 9,781 .ie domains were registered in the first quarter of 2009, a 28% increase over the same period last year. Over 80% of the new .ie domains were registered by sole traders or limited companies. David Curtin, chief executive of the IE Domain Registry., said “It is encouraging to see that despite the economic downturn, businesses are still seeing opportunities for growth online.”
101domain is already offering a special throughout the month of May for new .ie domain registrations, with prices lowered to $99 for one-year registrations, and $198 for two-year registrations. You can check the .ie domain registration page for the requirements and details, or contact one of our domain specialists who can help you register that and any other ccTLD domains you may need.
