Department of Justice Wants to Halt Registrar-Registry Integration
Top Level Domain name registries who own registrars are being advised to halt their plans because of the U.S department of Justices’s Antitrust Division. The Justice Department believes that allowing cross ownership of top level domains could create price caps. Removing the price caps could raise the prices of .com, net, and .org. However, New top level names are not very likely to make market power says the Department of Justice so it will not be significant issues.
