ICANN May Delay
ICANN says that the new generic top-level domains may still be delayed, prior to the January 12th opening, and that the possibility is not completely ruled out. The senior-vice president of ICANN, Kurt Pritz, was asked during the GNSO council meeting last week whether the congressional hearings may have anything to do with it. The National Telecommunications and Information Association Administration will not enforce a delay to the opening, however political pressure from the United States Federal Trade Commission and Congress may do just that. ICANN may decide to delay the opening themselves. For more information click here.
