Initially operating on Microsoft platforms and making use of third-party solutions like Dropbox to fill the gaps, Pearl.Insurance found themselves tied to outdated communication and file management tools. Anthony Mockbee, Chief Operating Officer of Pearl.Insurance, wanted to migrate to a solution that could handle everything in one place. Given his familiarity with Google’s user-friendly applications such as Gmail, Drive, and Calendar, Anthony pitched Google Workspace to his business partner. As a dedicated Microsoft user, the CEO was skeptical of the move, “He had been using Microsoft in corporate for decades,” Anthony explains. Despite encountering initial skepticism from his team, Anthony, who is the person responsible for internal systems management at Pearl.Insurance, persevered. He successfully led the transition to Google Workspace, paving the way for a more modern and efficient way of working for their team.
Cruising Through a Seamless Transition to Google Workspace
Transitioning from Microsoft to Google Workspace proved to be a straightforward process for Pearl.Insurance. They were able to handle the migration internally and complete it within a day. Initially, there were some minor challenges, like adjusting from Outlook folders to Gmail labels, but the team swiftly adapted to the intuitive features of Google Workspace.
One aspect that particularly impressed them was the ease of attaching documents to emails, which significantly improved their workflow efficiency. “We loved that Drive was integrated and we could just attach files to emails really simply,” Anthony recalls. “Before with Dropbox, you had to drag it from Dropbox to your desktop, and from your desktop to your email. It was an extra step and just a bit of a pain. Switching over to Google shored all that up for us.”
Steering Toward Security: Pearl.Insurance’s Adoption of .INSURANCE Domain
Originally operating under the domain name “insurepearl.com”, Pearl.Insurance knew they desired a name that was short, strong, and easily recognizable as their brand. While exploring domain name options, Anthony discovered the .INSURANCE domain through 101domain.com. Piquing his curiosity, Anthony began researching and realized that the .INSURANCE domain extension has a special use case and requirements compared to a regular “.com” domain. “We liked the security and exclusivity behind it,” he says. “It’s a great conversation starter because it’s not something people are used to seeing.”
The .INSURANCE domain is only available to verified members of the insurance community, and its usage requires websites to adhere to the highest security standards. Recognizing the advantages, particularly the trustworthiness it instills in customers, Pearl.Insurance strategically decided to register the .INSURANCE domain. 101domain is one of the few select registrars that offer .INSURANCE, so Anthony worked closely with his 101domain account executive Thomas Das, who helped him understand and meet all of the technical requirements involved with registering a .INSURANCE domain name. “Everyone at 101domain is on the same page. Although they were able to secure their domain name quickly, the transition from their previous domain to their new .INSURANCE domain took some time. Concerns about migrating email addresses in Google Workspace from @insurepearl.com to @pearl.insurance initially held them back, but 101domain provided a solution that empowered them to take the next step.
“New customers always mention .INSURANCE – what’s that? It allows us to explain to them that you have to be in the insurance industry to get the domain, and there are a bunch of security requirements that you have to meet, so everyone doing business with us knows that their data is secure.”

“Find a vendor that knows more than you do and do business with them. I think that’s how anyone grows, that’s how any business grows—whether it’s finding vendors who know more than you do, or finding employees who do. 101domain is definitely a good example of a good partnership.
