At 101domain, we are constantly looking for ways to improve your experience, from how you manage your domains to the way we communicate with you. Today, we are announcing a small but significant change to our automated email notifications designed to declutter your inbox and help you get to the root of what matters.
Starting January 19, 2026, we will remove the prefix “101domain:” from the subject lines of emails we send to you.
Our goal with this change is to make our email subject lines cleaner, shorter, and easier to read, especially on mobile devices where screen real estate is precious. Whether you are receiving a renewal reminder, a purchase confirmation, or a request for documents, we want to ensure that the essential information you need isn’t overlooked.
Action required: Check your email rules
While this change improves readability, it may impact you if you use strict email rules to organize your inbox.
If you have set up folders, rules, or filters in Outlook, Gmail, or other clients that specifically look for the text “101domain:” in the subject line, these rules will stop working once the change goes into effect.
We recommend reviewing your email settings today. Instead of filtering by subject line, update your rules to sort mail by sender address. This is a more robust way to ensure your important notifications land exactly where you want them. Our senders to whitelist or filter include:
Pro tip: Organizing your inbox with Google Workspace
Speaking of organization, many of our clients rely on Google Workspace to power their business communications. One of the reasons we love Google Workspace (and why millions of businesses trust it) is the powerful way Gmail handles email organization.
Unlike traditional email clients that force you to file messages in a single folder, Gmail uses Labels.
Labels vs. Folders
- Folders: An email can only live in one place. If you file it, it’s gone from your inbox.
- Labels: You can apply as many labels as you want to a single email (e.g., “Invoices,” “101domain,” “Urgent”). You can find that email by clicking any of those labels in the sidebar, or by searching for them.
How to automate your inbox with Gmail filters
If you are using Gmail, here is how to ensure your 101domain emails are automatically labeled and sorted with these new changes:
- Open an automated email from us.
- Click the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the message.
- Select “Filter messages like these.”
- Verify the sender info is correct and click “Create filter.”
- Choose your actions:
- Apply the label: Choose an existing label or create a new one (like “Domains”). This tags the email instantly.
- (Optional) Skip the Inbox (Archive it): Check this if you want the email to bypass your inbox entirely and go straight to the label. This mimics the “Move to Folder” behavior in Outlook.
- Also apply filter to matching conversations: Crucial Step! Check this box to apply your new rule to all the old emails currently sitting in your inbox.
